The provoking plant
In Biology, the students in Jack’s class were given three months to grow whatever they wanted.
One day, Jack came to school with some Rocket, or Arugula.
“Rocket (Arugula) – The Zesty Green
Rocket, also known as arugula (Eruca vesicaria), is a leafy green vegetable that has gained popularity for its peppery, slightly bitter taste. Part of the brassica family, which includes mustard and cabbage, rocket is often used in salads, sandwiches, and garnishes due to its sharp, tangy flavor.”
“Well done Jack!” said Mrs. Quill. “Just in time for the deadline!”
Right at that moment, Ernie hefted his pineapple into school.
“Pineapple, that spiky yellow fruit thing, is like this weird mix of a giant pinecone and a fruit that couldn’t decide what it wanted to be. It’s got this tough, spiny shell that makes you wonder if it’s even worth the effort to get inside. But once you hack it open, it’s super juicy and sweet—though sometimes a little sour, too, just to keep you guessing. The leaves on top look like some kind of tropical crown, but they’re useless except for, like, decoration. People put pineapple on everything, even pizza (which, depending on who you ask, might be a crime). Oh, and apparently it doesn’t even grow on trees. Go figure.”
“Ernie,” sighed Mrs. Quill. “Stop faking your homework!”
WHY?
Pineapples grow in 2-3 years.’
