A day in the life of a Typical Zoo penguin

A day in the life of a Typical Zoo penguin

Hello. My name’s Malcolm (a cheesy name that a human named me)and I’m a penguin. Just to set the record straight, us penguins are NOT happy with the fact that we only got a cramped area with terrible air conditioning (only -5 degrees), bad quality paintings of our RIGHTFUL home( I could paint better) and they didn’t even put our display case in a good place!

That’s right. They put us RIGHT next to the human ‘Toilets’. I know for a fact that penguins are one of the most favorite animals in the world, but as the humans love us so much why couldn’t they treat us better too?

My parents wanted me to write a diary because I have bad temper but also so that we could set the world straight on the welfare of zoo penguins. I started to wonder why they had to choose me. Then I realised it was because we have wings for hands. In case you’re wondering, yes, I’m writing with my feet.

As usual, there was nothing much to do except for stare back at the human ‘tourists’ that were staring at us and swim in the cramped pool. But one of the other penguins called Martin had a idea. “Why don’t we all go and ask one the elders to tell us one of his stories from before his capture? They might say no at first but after a couple of big eyes and pleases they’ll definitly give in.” Everyone agreed.

The plan worked and one of the elders named Nelson heaved a huge sigh and started telling his story. ” Close your eyes to see a place where I used to call home. When I first opened these eyes of mine to see a world waiting up for me. I used to call that home. Through the dark, I forced my eyes open to see a winter wonderland packed in snow. There were real mountains there, covered in snow. I don’t care if you call me crazy, I don’t care if you say I’ve lost my mind but I wish to go back there. The day of my capture I was waddling happily to catch some fish. As I dived into the sea to catch some fish I resufaced quickly. I heard a loud muddle of penquin noises and found a huge human’ship’. I tried to escape but in the end to humans got me.
